I went back and look at last night's Canadian...that was no fun. Brings him to the SELA coast, stalls and loopty loops close to Grand Isle before shunting northeast, dumping near 2 feet of rain over NOLA and the south shore.

The difference comes in where the center forms, the GFS has it moving through the Yucatan Channel. Most models have taken it across the Yucatan Peninsula. That is the first stepping stone to determining a final landfall.
