Christmas Greetings !!! It is only by the Grace of God that I'm able to write these words. --
For those who may not yet know, I have been diagnosed with an extremely rare auto-immune disease known as Wegener's Disease www.vasculitisfoundation.org/wegenersgranulomatosis .
Bottom line -- the disease is fatal, but manageable, with the right medications -- and remission of 4-25 years is even possible under the right conditions.
On 21 Nov, I had the sinus surgery, and the doctors began their search for the right medication. So far, the medications I'm on seem to be working, and the doctors, including the Center for Disease Control (yep, even the big boy feds got involved in this), are happy with the results so far. Some of the medication I've been on acts as chemotherapy and has made me really sick. However, because of my progress, that medication has been discontinued (thank goodness).
Presently I'm staying at my mother's house (I need somebody to watch me), and both she and my sisters have been a true blessing and have taken wonderful care of me. I am also very grateful to Father Tuan and all the parishioners of St. Peter Church who have been praying very hard for my recovery and have sent Mass enrollments, get well cards and other kind thoughts and wishes.
Due the necessity of remaining in quarantine (I'm not contagious to others, but others may be contagious to me -- I'm extremely susceptible to infection right now) it is absolutely necessary to restrict visitors to family and clergy only. However, my e-mail is back up and running again... and I've re-discovered my password for this site, so I'll be popping in from time to time.
I ask for your continued prayers for my recovery (remission), and I assure you of my prayers for you and yours.
Thanks to the weatherforumians for sending e-mails to ask about me.
edited to fix the link.
