Today I went downtown way to early in the morning to find a location to watch Rex and Zulu. Pictures can be found below, they are on the small size I am running out of space.

The first part of Zulu managed to make it to Gallier Hall around 10:30am two and half hours after the start time. The last part of Zulu passed around 1:30pm. This parade really needs to get it's act together. For a parade to take 5 and half hours to pass is way to long. Until Zulu is willing to put money into the floats to ensure each one can make it on a parade route the city should move Zulu to the end of the downtown parades on Mardi Gras day.
With that little bit out of the way. I did enjoy Zulu and Rex, the bands from both groups were very nice. Watching people from the top of one of the stands was fun and something I enjoy very much.
I do have a funny story to tell. I was up on the top of one of the stands across the street from Gallier Hall. Here I am taking pictures and this guy that was standing next to me, was pointing out floats and things for me to take pictures of. Not a problem I need all the help I can get. Someone misses a coconut and it goes under the stand, this lady leaves her seat goes under the stand and finds it. The lady is tying to find a way up and the guy next to me says stay up here this is going to get bad. Before I could say anything someone from the crowd grabs the lady by the head, takes the coconut and starts punching her.
The guy next to me says see you later, I am an undercover police officer, stay up here with these older ladies. He jumps down starts pulling people off the lady that is bleeding from the nose and mouth. Guess what he pulls out of his pocket?? You guess it a taser, other police officers come running and he is about to taser this girl. The police kicked out everyone that was involved and the undercover officer came back to tell us to enjoy the parade and not to worry about anything since everyone with both groups were kicked out.
Sitting to the left of me was two different tour groups, most of them were ready to leave but the officer talked to them and told everyone both groups were picked out as possible trouble makers. This lead to him being placed in the stands above them.
