Harp, I mean you get sneaux on December 8, one of, if not the biggest, earliest widespread southern deep south sneauxstorms that has ever occurred and you are asking for more, like even a white Christmas? Gosh, How can you, like I mean, come on now....................................... Well is the GFS dry? Seriously now. In order to have two sneauxs in a season, you have to have the first one. And we have had the first one. For the next 1-2 weeks towards Christmas the AO looks to rise quickly going positive and PNA drop so we will have some seasonal weather. However the longer range ensembles towards, more likely just after Christmas, before New Years, are suggesting ridging to develop again over Alaska, Asia and Greenland with some decent cold air coming south. This time with more of a sneaux pack up north. Hopefully our sneaux storm is just beginning of a remarkable winter here in the deep south including Harpland!

Kenneth, you have to understand, those of us in Harpland (the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain), only got teased. Here is our official gauge. Thanks for the update!

LMAO Tim, that's funny. Not that y'all got shafted just the pic. It's crazy to think us down here in ascesnion got more than many places in the mid Atlantic. But not rubbing it in because at least they get a real threat every year. Y'all even got more than some places than NC did. Here's to hoping we can get one more in this winter and have it even more widespread so everyone in South LA can join in on the fun.

Lol poor Tim! I feel for you, man. I really do. I know how much we get teased in Ascension every year so I can only imagine how you must feel near NOLA. I hope one day soon you get to see what we here in Prairieville saw Friday. It was truly remarkable and we still have about 3-4 inches of snow on the ground in shady areas. We also still have about an inch on our roof!
I was very happy with what I got, even though it was barely a dusting. Especially so EARLY in the season. I mentioned that in a previous post, I believe. BECAUSE it was so early, I suppose it's unreasonable for me to think it could happen again. Real winter hasn't even started yet. I was simply asking a question based on Scott's post of the GFS temperatures. In reality, I don't expect anything else this year. These are very rare events, but it's always enjoyable for me to look ahead, especially considering we aren't even into othe heart of winter yet.
Well we only got very light snow in 2008. So that is how I felt when everyone was showing their snow pics. We didn't even have a dusting. It may have lasted 10 minutes and melted as soon as it touched the ground. And then I had to be at work in Houma shortly after and nothing there. So very happy we finally got a lot Friday. I am already ready for more! I would love it if we had this event at least one more time before winter is over! Just not the week of Mardi Gras though because I leave for Miami to go on a Bahamas cruise.

I can relate to the cruise, as we had the unfortunate timing, that the only cruise we ever went on, yep...in the Yucatan on Dec 11, 2008! LOL I am really happy, that so many received such a good amount, and, even better, with minimum ice accumulation. I lived in Montgomery, for 18 years, so I experienced a few more snow events, then down here. Most notable, I was in Montgomery for the March, 1993, superstorm, where we had about 4 to 5 inches. We even experienced thundersnow!
I recall my mom telling about the year it sneauxed in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl. Actually it sneauxed on New Year's eve, December 1963, and sneaux on the ground for the Sugar Bowl January 1, 1964 then played outdoors in Tulane Stadium. Per the link below, here in Baton Rouge we did not even get a trace. And again such as Christmas 2004, there are times where New Orleans gets sneaux and others to the north can miss out.

While it is at the day 16 of the GFS, there is some hints of the next arctic outbreak suggested by the telleconnections. It shows a decent 1048 high building down from Canada.
