I'll have to take out the generator today and test it. For Friday's snow event we were out of power for 2 days and went to the in-laws' house.
NEVER. AGAIN.
I'm lucky i installed an automatic gas driven house generator. All i have to do is make sure the oil os changed every 100 runtime hours or so. No gas cans, no extension cords, no safety concerns for me or the power line workers......less than 30 seconds and its running my house.
Best peace of mind purchase I've ever made.
I'm jeallous. There is no natural gas service in my location and I don't want to always deal with propane refills so I just stick to the "vintage" generators lol.

Not sure the size propane tank you can legally install where you are, but it may still be worth a look.
Are we going to just pretend the latest GFS run didn’t happen?
The one with all the Xmas mischief? Well more model runs than not have shown some possibility for frozen stuff from south Texas to and thru parts of Louisiana.
If this is still the case come Monday or Tuesday then I'll start paying more earnest attention.

Wow....I mean seriously. 3 separate winter events within 4 to 5 days? My goodness that Christmas week is just looking nuts! Not to mention all of Louisiana not getting out of the 20's and 30's for almost a week???

Have we seen anything like that since the frigid Christmas week weather which started with a cold front storming through on the evening of 21 Dec 1989? By morning we were in the teens. By lunch time on 22 Dec 1989 it was snowing so heavily they closed down the ferries and it was nigh impossible to use any overpass, much less trying to cross the river bridges. Pipes busted everywhere and we didn't get above freezing for about a week. Another frigid Christmas Eve I recall was 1983. We really haven't seen that kind of cold in a long time.
And Thibodaux gets in on the action again. This would be insane if it verified. But we will be in Belle Chasse visiting my sister in law Christmas day.

There seems to me to be too strong of belief on the part of the GFS to not have some of this verify. I really REALLY hope we get frigid temps for Christmas Eve and day.
