Could it be cloud to cloud lightning horizontally at say 50,000 feet?
All lightening produces thunder...... yeah maybe if it was generated that high, the clouds and rain between it and the ground is enough to absorb the sound
Just checking in. We were rockin and rollin up in Pearl River County (15 miles north of Picayune, Henleyfield community). Started getting really bad around 9:30; power went out around 9:50 and came back on at 11:00. As others have noted , High winds , heavy rain, almost constant lightning but little thunder.

Well, just spent a little of time in my closet. Two tornado warnings in Mobile County. I think one rotation went just north of me and the other just south of me. NWS Mobile has issued several tornado warnings the past hour. Looks like it was for possible spin ups on the leading edge of the line. Things are good here now as far as the tornado threat goes
Didn’t get hardly anything in Thibodaux. Just like event last week. Rained for like 5 mins and that was it.
Pretty much the same here in Ascension Parish. Had some rain and thunder for about 30 minutes but the vast majority went north of us.
I’m writing off this severe weather season and waiting for hurricane season. I’m tired of writing seasons off - first it was fall, then winter, then severe storms. I hate to say it but I’m excited for some possible hurricane action this year LOL!

I suppose that this makes sense if all Hurricanes had moderate rainfall with winds no more than 75 mph, but, otherwise . . . ???
Permit me this small lapse into human emotion. I hate Hurricanes and Tornadoes. Live long and prosper.
Always the quiet ones - the Mandeville EF1 took out a full grown pine tree in my back yard as it went over our house. Didn’t hit the house which is good, landed in a vacant lot behind me.

We had an EF0 during the 2017 outbreak. Broke all back windows next door and sent a 4inch pine branch through a 1.5 inch 1950’s stucco outer wall. I could not believe it when I saw it heading to our backyards. The branch also went through the plaster bathroom ceiling where my neighbor and her granddaughter were huddled in the bathroom. Was over in 15 seconds. I no longer doubt Southshore tornados.
