Sneaky NW wind tonight might squeeze out a little bit of snow. Leadville airport (9900 feet approx) reporting light snow. There's some lift across my valley, looks like a little upper divergence maybe. Interested to see if it delivers here or not.

I'd imagine it's close to pitch black outside? Or is Leadville big enough you can see across the valley?

Can't see Leadville from here, but they have a reporting station at the airport on the south part of town. Elevation only 3,000 feet higher than here.
It is surprisingly bright out here at night if there aren't clouds. The moonlight reflecting off the snow and the frozen lake actually has a nice glow to it.
Looks like dry air is going to win this one for me and no snow. Starting Wednesday for almost the entire week following is looking pretty interesting. A lot of cold blasts and stormy weather coming through. The EPS mean for Leadville for the next 15 days is showing 11 inches of snow (10:1) ratio. Buena Vista, south of here and down at about 8000 feet, is showing 8" for the next 15 days.

Ridge has taken control. Sunny. Highs well into the 40s through Wednesday. Then comes a week of colder and snowier weather that will send a big slug of cold air down into the east. I'll post an update on the initial system Wednesday later today or tomorrow.

This next week should give Breck a nice bit of snow to set up your trip nicely. I'm not actually that far from Breck as the crow flies, but it's a long way in terms of roads you can get across this time of year. Feel free to share some pictures of your trip in this thread too. It might be my Colorado Winter, but I'm willing to share.
The snow is coming for my location too. I'm not ready for the cold coming though, should have a few nights below zero.

Would have been nice if you could have set up a web cam while there!

Energy of the midweek system splits, some of it cuts off down off the Pacific coast and then drags a trough through late Wednesday into Thursday.
Best energy looks to roll south of here into AZ and NM but with a pretty good moisture feed I think we're looking at 1-3" here. EPS has majority of members getting 4" in Leadville and it's a little higher in elevation. Early thoughts. Looking forward to the mesoscale models coming in.
Next couple of days should provide increasing cloudiness but be pretty warm with temps well into the 40s with the sunshine. Going to enjoy it, because the freezer is coming.

The next week certainly is promising, starting Wednesday afternoon. The jet stream is maxing near here and we might overperform some in the central mountains. There's actually "a lot" (relative to the location of course) of moisture with this one. It's already starting to flow in. Then we have another chance Friday and probably something early next week too. EPS has Leadville hitting 12" for the next 15 days, with some 20" for the next 15 days. I have to trim a little here from that, so 6-12" for the next two weeks seems reasonable at this point. The long term pattern looks fruitful here too. Mardi Gras time could have some nice snow for you too.

Wouldn't believe there is snow in the forecast tomorrow with how clear of a day it's been. Ridge flattening out, winds drop and we have a clear day. First signs of the coming storm system is some clouds starting to lift up off the mountains and continue lifting as it comes across the valley. Toasty outside. Almost 50 degrees.

Left exit might end up squeezing out a few inches here. Euro and HRRR both hit Leadville with 6" by Thursday morning and blast the northern mountains with snow. The HRRR goes from trace to 4" in an hour or two. NWS has 1-2" possible here. I'm leaning 3".
