818 AM CDT Wed Sep 15 2021

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northern Orleans Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
St. Tammany Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
Washington Parish in southeastern Louisiana...

* Until 1115 AM CDT.

* At 818 AM CDT, trained weather spotters reported thunderstorms
producing heavy rain in Heavy rain ovenight and water covering
multiple roads. . Between 2 and 5.5 inches of rain have fallen.
The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour and 30
minutes. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible
in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly. Heavy rain in combionation with debris and blocked
drainage areas is resulting in flash flooding across the parishes.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
New Orleans, Slidell, Bogalusa, Covington, Franklinton, Pearl
River, Abita Springs, Varnado, Madisonville, Folsom, Sun, Bush,
Enon, Lacombe, Mount Herman, Pearlington, Angie and Slidell
Airport.

This includes the following Interstates...
Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 261 and 273.
Interstate 12 between mile markers 53 and 84.
Interstate 59 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 11.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

I just had another line of showers come through; much stronger than what I received four (4) hours ago and probably the strongest since #Nicholas became a CAT1 hurricane. The Weather Channel has one of their #OCMs reporting live from Biloxi.

And good morning to you as well. The rain is really coming down here this morning, and we could sure use a break from it if only to allow it to run off. I have so much storm debris on my property and the property surrounding me to move towards the street, and just can't do it in the rain. My tarp seems to be holding for now. Stay safe!

Had about 3.5" in Covington. Street and creek flooding. Small cottonmouth at front door. Trying to keep dog away from him. Had to beat him with a hammer because he had my path to the shovel blocked. Dang dog was trying to crawl over my back to get at him. Fun times - NOT!

Not much after that last skinny band in Terrebonne. We'll see spotty showers with the heating of the day but the flood threat looks like it's pretty much over for Louisiana.

Light to moderate rain all morning in Metairie. Looks like it's almost over and we have one more band coming later.. Everyone's tarps seem to be holding up well.
I wish the city would come pick up the mounds and mounds of tree branches brought out to the street. It's a pain trying to swerve around branches sticking out everywhere, especially on both sides of the blocks.
