What is the fastest growing plant in the world?
Phyllostachys edulis, the mōsō bamboo. A mature plant shoot can grow 3 feet in one day. Bamboo is in the grass family.
I planted a young plant only 1 month ago with a single culm (stalk) about 1/4" dia. and about 50 inches tall. I already have two new culms and one (almost 3/4" dia.) is now 70 in. tall....it grew 10 in. in 2 days. Not bad for a young plant.
In perfect tropical conditions the moso can grow to 100 feet tall and have a diameter of 7 inches.

My first chinese long bean. It's sort of a cross between a cowpea and green bean. It's those crisp green beam looking things you get in Chinese restaurants. Ate my first in an omlette and its a winner.
