HRRR's evolution of this system looks pretty spot on so far. Elongated low pressure with 95% of the convection north and east of the center. It still manages to deepen it down to the mid 1000s even devoid of heavy convection.

Better hope 90L's core of heaviest rainfall stays just offshore. HRRR is showing isolated 3 feet through Saturday midday south of Lafayette to south of Houma offshore...but its all over the fish's homes. It still gets 1 foot totals into coastal areas.

I believe the poster misunderstood the original post. The original post (not mentioned in this particular quote) simply asked the staff to re-name the thread as an Invest since we now do indeed have an INVEST. That's all. No one was implying a rapid strengthening to a TS or anything like that.

I suspect it's winding down for the evening although some isolated heavier pockets of rain are still around. It'll be overnight again it'll flare up offshore/coast and then push inland again as the morning progresses.

Its gonna need more convection near and around the center for this if it wants to be upgraded. Notice the flare of up convection on the south side and east side of the broad LLC in the latest sat images, not sure if they will last or not but certainly needed for strengthening.... Appears its southward motion has slowed down a tad

It will be such a complex forecast, with Invest 90L in the gulf, the Carribean wave looking to move across the Y.P. into the Bay of Campeche, and a frontal system also moving into the gulf. Will definitely be interesting to see how all of these different parts interact.
