NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
AND SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS. INDIVIDUAL
STORMS ARE MOVING SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 15 MPH. THESE STORMS ARE
CAPABLE OF PRODUCING WIND GUSTS TO AROUND 40 MPH...AS WELL AS 1 TO
2 INCHES OF RAIN IN AN HOUR. FREQUENT DANGEROUS LIGHTNING IS ALSO
A CONCERN...ESPECIALLY WITH STORMS BETWEEN NEW ORLEANS AND BATON
ROUGE.

We are getting squeezed between a rock and a hard place. The atmosphere in place across our area is like the tropics. We have a upper-low over Florida and a upper-high over the Plains. This puts us in a shear axis with abundant moisture and extra lift from a frontal trough sitting along the Gulf Coast. The result- look at the radar!

I keep missing out. Storms keep falling apart before they get to me and then they reform south of me. I've only had one little shower here so far today. Unless more forms north of me, it looks like I won't get much more here.

Wow, we came out of the movie theater into a downpour! Looked like it's been raining a while with all the ditches filled to the top!

Darn it, looks like I missed a good thunderstorm.

I see Zack mentioned our atmosphere is tropical, so can we expect more to build through the rest of the afternoon?

Wow! Some seriously nasty weather passing through central MS right now. I'm very shocked that I still have power with all the snaps, crackles, and pops I hear around my house. If it were daylight, I'd have some great pics!

Yes, it could, however I think it'll be much weaker by the time it reaches that far south. Although, it is moving at a pretty good clip and it looks like new storms are beginning to develop near the Hattiesburg area.

Dang, it never rained at all here yesterday. I thought I heard thunder in the distance and when I checked the radar just now, I was surprised to see the stuff heading my way. Looks like there will be a nice light show in Bogalusa soon.

Sometimes I wonder who I was
before the lightning struck and I was no more.
