What does the pressure do for the storm. Obviously we know what the wind does but what does the pressure falling effect?
Central pressure is everything in a hurricane. Your lowest pressure will be at the center, or eye of the storm and pressures are higher around it. The lower that pressure in the center, the tighter the wind gradient around it and the stronger the winds are. The winds will rotate inward toward that central area of low pressure.
When pressures fall, it takes a while for the winds to catch up.

Word of caution to those that may be out and about and crossing the river. Remember at some point the bridges will be shut down, sorry i forgot the wind speed. This is especially true for the Boggs I-310 bridge here in Destrehan. Don't get stuck on the wrong side of the river with no place to go too.

Great explanation SKy!!
now with the wind not dropping since the pressure is around a cat 2 and the wind obviously at a TS force. Is the pressure really important right now?
Baton Rouge TV stations are showing normal daily programming with crawls and occasional breaking into programming. Our radio stations are actually more urgent. I'm happy that Talk 107.3 is carrying full coverage and all the news conferences and preps. Doing a better job than local TV with that.

SCP said on their site earlier there were no plans to close the bridge during the event.

FOR THOSE ASKING ABOUT A CLOSURE OF THE HALE BOGGS BRIDGE: We DO NOT expect the state to close the bridge at any time during Isaac. The only complete closure of the bridge we have witnessed due to weather has been related to those rare south Louisiana snow storms. IF we receive information that the bridge in fact will close at any point, we will of course post it here.

Ok I have a question after looking at the WV loop. For most of his life, he's at least been exposed on the NE quad from dry air. Now that he's starting to wrap that quad up, even though the rest of him is getting exposed, would that benefit him more than having the other quads?
