Just a quick thank you to everyone for the updates. I'm in Birmingham but all of our family is down in NOLA. It's been such a blessing for me to be able to keep up with what's going on. Everyone stay safe and I'm praying for a quick end to this storm.

I'm damn tired of John Snell. I cannot believe what he just said....quoted not word for word, "the breach or over toppings of the levee in Plaquemines Parish is a speedbump compared to the structure we now have".
REALLY???? That pissed me off. So all those residents that just lost everything they own was caused by a speedbump since the city seems to be ok.

Has anyone seen any updates or reports on any flooding in Metairie or Kenner from canals overflowing? I know Dylan mentioned something about overflowing and high canals earlier, but I haven't seen any updates. I know the rain has slacked for a bit here now. So, I'm hoping this will give the pumps time to work to get the canals down. I'm just curious if anyone has seen or heard anything about this issue lately. Anyone?

It seems like the city has always been willing to let those people down there suffer just to save themselves. I've never lived down there, so I can't relate to what you all are going through. It just seems to be that way every time something like this happens...
Yes only Orleans & Jefferson & parts of other parishes have federal flood protection. My fed tax dollars built a wall to save Jefferson & divert floods to st Charles west bank!! The new haves and have nots -- levee protection.
Waiting & watching if st Charles will get surge that hit grand isle then Lafitte....

I remember reading about a similar situation during the flood of 1927. A levee was actually destroyed to save New Orleans that subsequently flooded St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes.

Looking at radar this afternoon Isaac definitely starting to lose some steam. No more reds showing up in the AVN loop. However, he is moving sooooo slow.
