THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAKE CHARLES HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
VERMILION PARISH IN SOUTHWESTERN LOUISIANA...
ST. MARTIN PARISH IN SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA...
IBERIA PARISH IN SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA...
NORTHWESTERN ST. MARY PARISH IN SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA...
SOUTHERN ST. LANDRY PARISH IN CENTRAL LOUISIANA...
ACADIA PARISH IN SOUTHWESTERN LOUISIANA...
LAFAYETTE PARISH IN SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA...

* UNTIL 500 PM CDT SUNDAY

* AT 1053 AM CDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATES THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING
HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. ANYWHERE FROM 6 TO 9 INCHES OF
RAIN HAVE FALLEN SINCE MIDNIGHT ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN SAINT
LANDRY AND NORTHERN LAFAYETTE AND SAINT MARTIN PARISHES...WITH 3
TO 5 INCHES ELSEHHERE IN THE WARNED AREA. FLASH FLOODING IS
OCCURRING. NUMEROUS REPORTS OF MAJOR ROADS CLOSED INCLUDING I-49
AND SERVICE ROADS...LA 182...AND MANY PARISH ROADS TOO NUMEROUS TO
MENTION HERE. SEVERAL REPORTS OF WATER IN HOMES AS WELL.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...
LAFAYETTE...NEW IBERIA...OPELOUSAS...CROWLEY...ABBEVILLE...CATAHOULA...
EUNICE...SCOTT...BREAUX BRIDGE...RAYNE...FRANKLIN...CARENCRO...ST.
MARTINVILLE...JEANERETTE...KAPLAN...CHURCH POINT...IOTA...GUEYDAN...
LEONVILLE AND ARNAUDVILLE.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO TRAIN FROM WEST TO EAST OVER
THE WARNED AREA...AND ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF 2 TO 4 INCHES IS
POSSIBLE THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS...OR UNTIL THIS SYSTEM SHIFTS

If that run is correct, yes...but these runs haven't been doing too well. Regardless, Monday is looking like another wet day overall. By Tuesday however, the dry out begins.

Looks like some dry air is pushing down from the north stopping the rain in Laplace for the first time since early this morning. Wind has really picked up though but the cloud deck movement has shifted from a SE flow to a now almost due west flow.

Here is another view of a car swallowed up by the flood waters on Bank street in Lake Charles. Note, the depth of the intersection is about six to eight feet below the water line.
