My wife got me a Mavic Air for my birthday last year. It's been both an incredible joy and infuriatingly frustrating, almost simultaneously. We live within 5 miles of a regional airport. DJI uses geofencing to prevent their drone users from flying within certain proximities to certain locations, airports being one of them.
You can 'unlock' this feature for 24 hours by logging on to the DJI site and entering your Mavic S/N and getting a code texted to you. That part is not a big deal, although you do end up burning both drone and tablet battery time doing so. The frustrating part is they keep moving the location in their Go application where you submit the code to the controller/drone. Additionally, they seem to like to push drone/controller firmware updates almost monthly. When there's a firmware update, you CANNOT bypass the update so you can fly now, update later. NOoooooo! You gotta update or you don't fly, at. all.
When the thing does get airborne, the images it returns are simply amazing! Flying it is relaxing fun, too! If I can only get past the firmware updates and unlock code locating issues, it's a real treat to fly.
Unfortunately, the weather hasn't cooperated lately, it's either been raining or too windy to fly. Hopefully I'll get some time in the air again soon.
