Looks like the bulk of them even keep it below tropical storm status

I've seen several local meteorologists post about our potential tropical event on social media, including this from David Bernard on Facebook. If other folks watch local news or follow social media, hopefully, they'll start paying attention. WE already know to pay attention!!

GULF WATCH

Threat: Possible storm
Timing: Tuesday night and Wednesday
Unknowns: Track and Intensity (strength)

I mentioned the disturbance last week that I expected to be in the Gulf after Labor Day. This afternoon it is on schedule and is currently over the Bahamas heading toward South Florida.

Hurricane Hunters are scheduled to fly into the area just west of Key West on Monday.

The good news is it’s expected to move fairly quickly which COULD limit its time to get super strong.

The bad news is it is moving quickly so our time to get ready will be shorter plus it’s a holiday weekend.

At this time you should be reviewing your family hurricane plan and be ready to take appropriate action if and when the time comes.

The GFS has been worthless with this disturbance past 48-72 hours, just 2 days ago it was showing barely any thunderstorm activity & vorticity where it is right.

GFS finally starting to see the light.

The small core of this storm worries me. Models will struggle with the small circulation and those are the ones that can ramp quickly.
