It's moreso induced by such a strong low level flow pushing the LLC along faster than the MLC can go... a bit of tropical whiplash per se. The MLC continually fights to keep up, and just may have temporarily. Since the flow is generally from the same direction it's not detrimental to the storm, it won't decouple. If the UL flow was from a different direction, it would be a different story, the storm would be decapitated.

I've seen an LLC outrun the MLC. I think last year it was very common. You see the naked swirl and some of them lasted a long time without the MLC. If that is going on here, why is there no hint of a naked or partially naked LLC?

Because the difference in the flow in the vertical column is not great enough, the forward motion slowing helped as well to keep the storm somewhat together. A storm can still decouple with unidirectional flow, but the speed difference in the low levels vs. the upper levels would have to be much greater than what we're seeing here.

* Until 500 PM CDT.

* At 428 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 8 miles southwest of Geneva, moving northwest at 35
mph.

That is tough because if the storm gets far enough inland, the tap to the Gulf diminishes.

I still think tomorrow afternoon we will get some feeder bands crossing us from the Gulf as the storm passes our longitude.
