BREAKING NEWS: Formerly held terrified captive beings spotted on the Mississippi River levee! Observed were strollers, walkers, runners and dogs with a leg in the air smiling with relief. They were braving a light sprinkle and 5.5 mph winds. There were two horses , a goat, and one sneaky gator. Also the exotic; a group of French bicycle tourists gasping for air. Apparently not used to breathing 97% water vapor! Seriously, forum has been awesome. Unfortunately still ongoing. Wish I could send this weather there.

Just have not liked the overall pattern so far. Let one of the better comment. Wonder if troughing is an issue still in the Midwest.? Last week seems to be the first real hot high of the summer. GFS looks to be mainly SE flow at the surface for the most part. Just venting off the top of the bald head.

Well at least GFS actually sends a little "cool" front down to our side of the Gulf coast in this version, while the storm goes up the east coast as a weak storm.

I had the same thought in north Covington. A nasty cell came through and dumped roughly 1.5" in an hour. 2.4" total for the day so far. I would assume it's the same one that came through Madisonville.

I showed the wife that GFS run, but I played it backward so that it showed the low coming down into the Gulf 🤣 She was not amused

A band of tropical rains was slowly approaching the advisory area
from the west. The rate is falling a torrential rates, generally 3
to 4 inches per hour. Once the rains start, flooding can result in
only a few minutes.

Additional rainfall of 4 to 6 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding. If the torrential
rains persist, a Flash Flood Warning will be issued. Stay tuned for
later statements and possible warnings.

* Until 315 AM CDT.

* At 1215 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain with radar estimates of eight to ten inches already
fallen. Storms are focused along a boundary in northeast Calcasieu
parish. High water rescue is currently on going at this time.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
north Lake Charles, Moss Bluff, Buhler and Gillis.

Additional rainfall amounts of four to six inches will
be possible in the warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
