I am wondering if we can get John Gumm's thoughts about Dorian.
He was the one that told us to leave. He, definitely, stuck with us in the old WWL-TV forum all the way, even through the childbirth of his first born and the road back to Cincinnati, his hometown, with a stop at a hospital in MS due to his newborn's urgent need for medical help.

Breathing a sigh of relief in this one but praying hard for Florida. Now if only we can get through rest of month of September and 1st week of Oct. We were lucky Barry happened in July because we also could of had it bad.

He had left WWL some time before, and David Bernard had just left to go to Miami, plus John Gumm had to leave due to the birth of his child. So WWL was shorthanded with staff.
Brad Panovich graciously came back to New Orleans the day before the storm hit . I was so happy to see him as it was painful watching Bill Capo attempt to convey the hurricane info.

I’m confused as to why in the last 2 pages multiple posters are concerned or thinking Dorian has any chance of affecting Louisiana or the central gulf states in the least bit and keep comparing it to Katrina. Every storm is different with its own steering currents and no reputable model shows anything that would support it.

Euro currently at 96 hours and has it almost at landfall in south Florida. I don’t see anything out to sea

No, it’s skirting the eastern coast of Florida. So far it is still over water on a northward motion. Almost looks as though it’s going to take it into North Carolina instead. It’s not finished yet though so who knows, maybe it just goes fishing.

If it would go fishing, would be amazing news for Florida. That is the thing with Atlantic storms, they can scare the crap out of you. And then recurve last min. But with Gulf of mexico storms, you know they have to hit land somewhere.
