The weather has been strangely dry and boring. Great for social distancing and running. I’m ready for some action. Unfortunately it comes in the form of severe, flooding rains and followed by the tropical awakening. US drought monitor confirms a drought in South Louisiana and more severe South Texas. I can just about guarantee a heavy rain event in Louisiana at some point. Nature will even the score but hopefully not in a few hours somewhere. Watch part of the Texas drought get relieved by an early weak tropical event. I guess the same could be said for a June LA event.
Just unbelievable that no festivals would have been rained out at this point. Real slap in the face weather gods.
This coming weekend into maybe early next week showing some signs of severe potential. Depends on if there's a trailing southern s/w and just how amplified it ends up being. We should have a screaming sub tropical jet and plenty of warm gulf air to play with.
Would expect it to be more of a Dixie Alley problem than here on the coast. Details still a little fuzzy, especially with the lack of air travel not pumping as much data into the models.
