HURRICANE ISAIAS Discussion Thread

No flood zone here. We are so lucky. Neighborhood very close. Covid has brought us together even more. We now have 4 natural gas generators in one block. 2 were installed this month though a financial burden for both families. Kids are all young adults now and grandparents are in their 70’s and 80’s. Everything done in the immediate interest of limiting virus exposure from evacuation. We have designed simple cheap water systems for toilet n showers. Have never left and never will after careful realistic assessments. My point here is to work together with family, friends, neighbors even coworkers and see what you can come up with. We are all of modest means here in my hood. We’ve had many discussions regarding evacuations and ultimate cost for that is surprisingly expensive. If you can minimize your flood risk then all you need is a small generator to keep the refrigerator, lights, tv and one window AC unit for a week or so. The peace of mind having electricity and others here with us during the event has really become priceless. You can pm me if I can help anybody with questions.
