Is it just me or does it seem like Mississippi and Alabama and even portions of Louisiana have been having more tornadoes in the last few years than say OklahomaOklahoma and Nebraska and all?

It sure as hell seems like it. If I recall correctly, tornado warnings in south LA were fairly rare. Upper Alabama now seems like its got a target on it for tornados. I guess this is the new Dixie Alley?

I just spoke with a good friend of mine that lives in Huntsville Alabama and he said that a portion of a highway there buckled and washed away from flooding!

Correct. The frequency typically moves back far N n W of here by June. It is going to be interesting seeing how things evolve over the years with climate change. Of course tornadoes occur year round.
