[H] HURRICANE BERYL - Discussion Thread

Intensity forecast can be thrown out the window.....She obliterated just about every forecast expectation on how intense she will get......There is no doubt in my opinion that she will gain strength once she reaches the gulf......Timing seems to be the issue and it seems to be on our side for the northern gulf coast.....As harpman would call it, THE DEATH RIDGE LOL, is the main factor.....Will it stay in place just long enough to guide it into southern Texas/Mexico.....If it did go more north I don't think it will be enough time to make a major bend before making landfall.....The only thing that would be catastrophic is if it will slow down to a crawl after passing over the YP.....Nothing in the models are hinting towards that idea.....So all that to say, I think we are good!!! this was the first of many times this year that we will be model watching as storms make their way into our region...This is very good practice....And from the looks of it we are going to need it in the very near future.....

Is it just me or does it slow down right before landfall in Mexico? Almost like a crawl
