Sunday morning September 20th, my Mom's condition continues stable, with little by little her lungs taking in more oxygen. The best news is that she has not gotten any worst since Wednesday and that any other organs have not been compromised by the virus. Blood pressure is fine and daily blood work comes back fine.
Friday afternoon we got a little scare because her Chest X ray showed that her lungs were a little worst than when she got there but my cousin explained to me that after the swelling starts going down the image starts coming in clearer thus the reason for showing it getting worst when in fact it was not.
She still does not have much of an appetite, she has not eaten a decent meal since at least Sunday but she did started eating soups and frozen sherbet over the last couple of days. What I hear based on one other cousin of mine that has worked in the ICU Covid Unit in one of the Miami Hospitals since day one is that the average stay at the hospital with Covid Patients with Pneumonia is 2-3 weeks. I am hoping for just 10-14 days. She had a patient one time that stayed over a month. She tells me that my Mom is on the right treatment which they have seen the best results during the past couple of months, that is intensive Antibiotic Treatment, steroids and the convalescent plasma. The worst thing they did in the beginning of Covid was to put the patients on the Respirators too soon without treating the virus and pneumonia first, that death rate from Covid ICU patients has gone down unless a patient has other complications from pre-existing conditions.
Just want to let you know what a bad virus this is, this is no where close to the common flu, my Mom has always been a very healthy person, never smoked, never drinks, never obese, no cancer history, no heart problems, no blood pressure. She's the youngest of 8 at 71, all her siblings are still alive with no health issues, the oldest is close to 90 years old. She tells me that she had not gotten the flu in ages, this is the first her ever catching pneumonia. Good thing she is a fairly healthy person.
The best advice that I can give you is to take care of your elder parents & grandparents. If you go or anybody else visits them please wear your mask, better be safe than sorry.
If they live with other people in the house like my Mom and one of the other people catches it there is a high chance of everyone catching it as well, immediately take them to the hospital if coughing begins.
Thank you all for your prayers, I am a big believer that it works.
