First: Let me warn you that this is not going to be Politically Correct, particularly in the community of "The People."
Second: This Citizen is not ever going to be intimidated into saying other than the truth in the matter of the ongoing demise of our beloved Crescent City.
Third: The Big Easy is a movie title, and never the name of our Crescent City. Cut that out, okay?
I am SO disgusted with New Orleans politics. City Councilman Oliver Thomas has Federal Corruption Charges filed on him, and basically he has admitted to whatever he did, because the Feds have indicted him on a Bill of Information. I truly had faith in this man as an honest leader, but he has violated his oath and failed his duty to all of the citizens of the City of New Orleans. He is nothing but a big dishonest CROOK, failure, and a hypocrite.
Yet, when locals were interviewed about this news story, all that was talked about was how much he had done for "The People",
and what a wonderful guy he was. They all talked all around it, but all sadly failed to recognize his lack of morality, and failure to act accordingly as a guardian of "The People's" money. Just as with all else that is wrong with the political cesspool also known as New Orleans, "The People" choose to look the other way, and make excuses for the lack of morals involved in the drug trade in "The Community", the brazen and ignorant acts of malfeasance in office, the daily brazen murders, and the ruination of real estate values in neighborhoods that had been formerly safe and peaceful.
"The People" themselves are not being honest, by not speaking the honest truth out loud anymore. "The People" know who is committing the thefts, the murders, and selling the illicit drugs on their streets. But "The People" remain mute, and unbelievably maintain the status quo, rather than to dare say anything derogatory about anyone who is from their peer group. I am perpetually disgusted by all of this. There is a huge open sore on the face of New Orleans that will never heal until it is publicly and properly diagnosed. The sources of this affliction are several: Apathy, Double Standards, Lack of Morals. Where is all of the proper sense of OUTRAGE from "The People"!!?!??
I am tempted to say that "The People" have the government and lifestyle that they deserve, as they do in Iraq, because they will not fight for what is right for all citizens. But that would not be entirely true or fair. ALL of the citizens of New Orleans deserve better that what they are getting, in particular, the children. Even those of "The People" who fail to "Get It" yet, deserve better. But where is the OUTRAGE? Now in conclusion, if you have not figured out who I am referring to when I use the New Orleans term "The People" as it is used here locally, then you are clueless and should start paying better attention to what is being said and done around the City of New Orleans. God help us...
