My GCWX Sisters, Brothers, and Family, I am going to have a baby. At 35 years of age, this came as quite a shock to me, with my age and the fact that many years ago the Doctors told me conceiving and carrying a child would both be miracles. The initial shock has since gone and now I am preparing myself for my little one to be born. The pregnancy was a bit rough at first, but it is getting better and the hardest thing for me to do was to quit smoking. Giving up drinking was very easy to do, but the quitting smoking was hard, very hard. Even though it looks as if I swallowed a beach ball whole, I haven't gained that much weight considering, perhaps five pounds, give or take a few ounces at best. Seeing that what was considered the "impossible" happened and that this is my first pregnancy, I told my Doctor that I did not wish to know the sex of the child until the day of delivery, I wanted to be pleasantly surprised. I do not even know if I am having more than one baby, lol. I just told the Doctor to alert me to anything abnormal or health and or life threatening to me or my little one and to take whatever action he thought was best in that event.
Well, many of you know that I am also a future step-mother to a daughter, who just turned 9, a son who is now 3, and a mommy to a chihuahua named Peanut. Some of you even got to meet my little Peanut at the picnic in November. Now when I got Peanut when he was a tiny little puppy back in February of 07, my future step-daughter took to him quickly and she is very close to him and I think she is going to be excited and welcome the new addition wholeheartedly. Now the 3 year old boy, he is not as well-behaved and has made my Peanut yap a few times, whether it was intentional or non-intentional and he has a slight jealous nature. Peanut, has been very overly protective of me and my belly as of late, I just don't know how he is going to react once the little baby arrives home. So, with all that said, I need advice on the following questions I have:
1.) How do I prepare my future step-children and my Peanut for the baby and the baby's arrival into the home?
2.) Once the baby arrives home, how do I present the baby to my future step-children and Peanut?
3.) After the baby's arrival home, how do I keep all the little ones happy and safe?
Thanking everyone who responds to my questions in advance. Any and all comments and suggestions will be valued and extremely appreciated and helpful.
