You've got to love these alien like forecasts for mountains.
This is the NWS forecast for Mt. Rainier.
"This Afternoon Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Steady temperature around 14. Wind chill values between -5 and -10. Windy, with a west wind around 39 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.......Total daytime snow accumulation of 37 to 43 inches possible.
Tonight Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 11. Wind chill values between -6 and -11. Windy, with a west wind 34 to 38 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph.... .New snow accumulation of 33 to 39 inches possible.
Friday Snow likely. The snow could be heavy at times. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 7 by 4pm. Wind chill values between -9 and -19. Windy, with a west southwest wind 36 to 38 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph..... New snow accumulation of 10 to 16 inches possible.
Friday Night Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 0. Wind chill values between -21 and -27. Windy, with a west wind around 46 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph.......New snow accumulation of 24 to 30 inches possible."
I was hoping to see a nice snowfall in Ruidoso NM overnight from a street webcam but their 3-7 inch forecast ended up as no snow at all. We would be devestated if that were to happen here.. fortunately for them all you need to do is drive up the mountain a bit to find the snow!
