The 2 factors that will effect the movement of Alberto will be the Atlantic high pressure and if an upper low gets cut-off to the south & southwest of the storm. The cut-off low is one of the main factors for the forecasted turn to the NW and WNW.

The 12z GFS track is almost similar to Katrina. From what the model is showing in respect to the millibars of the storm, we could be looking at a Category 1 or possibly 2 hitting Louisiana.

The westward trend is certainly not what SELA wants to see. I wonder what the next run of the EURO will show this afternoon. It always seems like these things trend westward. And this time a rapidly deepening cat 1 coming in near Morgan City (assuming the trend continues and verifies) would catch a LOT of people off guard.
