00z GFS would make a lot of people wonder which season it is on the 26th if it verifies. Looking to be the first frost and maybe, for some of the colder spots, the first freeze. I never remember having frost in October. Mid 30s as far south as Slidell.
I remember waaaay back in the olden days (mid-50s), in October, walking all bundled up to the school bus stop at the head of the street and seeing ice in the ditches.
It definitely looks like the last two weeks of October will be quite cold, for October that is. The past few GFS model runs have showed anywhere from a light freeze to upper 40s starting next week and continuing through the end of October.

It's looking like trick or treating with the kiddos will be quite chilly. Looks like temps may be in the 50's or 40's according to the GFS. We'll have to bundle up our little construction worker!

Seems like trick or treating is always either chilly (and possibly rainy), or sweltering hot and full of mosquitoes. I think the chilly version is preferable!
