.SOUNDING DISCUSSION...

This morning's balloon launch was successful with no problems
encountered. No major changes in the previous 24 hours in regards
to the state of the atmosphere, as we reside in a very moist,
tropical airmass in the vicinity of a passing tropical wave to our
west. Calculated PW of 2.33 inches remains well above-normal,
with a prominent moist-adiabatic thermal profile aloft. Short-
range CAM guidance continues to suggest ongoing convection to our
west to spread east, where diurnal destabilization will likely
occur through the late AM/early PM hours. Spotty showers will
have no problem developing areawide today, and bring the potential
for locally heavy rainfall. The vertical wind profile remains
dominantly from the SE from H5 to the surface, before becoming
weaker aloft. This will yield a mean storm motion today 174deg
@14kts. Banding from cells later today may have a tendency to
train over the same areas, which may lead to localized flash
flooding problems. However, widespread severe weather is not
expected today.

looking at visible, maybe some rotation starting??

When are we expecting landfall? Tuesday or Wednesday? I am guessing school will likely close.

Just that he looks better to me this morning than what I was expecting. The gulf is currently NOT favorable for development but that'll change. Right now, 91L is under an area of light upper level winds. While not a "perfect" environment, it is allowing convection to increase, and you can see banding trying to develop. Not saying this will reach hurricane strength, but the possibility of a quick burst of intensification right at landfall is very much possible.

Kinda hard to say. With all the rain we are getting, this could cause localized flooding issues. I assume the more southern school districts will choose to do something.
