Fortunately or Unfortunately the core of the Arctic airmass will be staying around the upper Midwest and Great Lakes. Incredible forecasted cold under neath the Polar Vortex.

What does this mean for us?
It means nothing for the gulf coast. Fortunately, we don't need record breaking cold for snow down here! Truth is, it's not a good thing to be into the heart of the cold, that only gives us cold, sunny and dry weather. We should be in a good position when lows track to our south over the next few weeks.
Heads up here in southwest Louisiana as well. Things will and do change - we'll see.
Not a professional forecast by any means and should not be viewed as such - just my opinion. Monday Night
A chance of rain showers before midnight, then rain likely between midnight and 4am, then rain and snow likely after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Tuesday
A chance of rain and snow before 9am, then a chance of snow between 9am and noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 41. North wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
With us being 72 hours out from the event, any chance we see a winter storm watch issued?

It’s cold out, 32 in Thibodaux this morning with a heavy frost , we have had a heavy frost for several days in a row, it’s white out, next best thing to snow I guess.

06z GFS sounding forecast looks pretty good for frozen precip for the northern North Shore for Tuesday morning as long as the surface moistens up some.
Edit: this is the best promising sounding forecast I have seen so far, previous runs the moisture is gone by the time the heights fall low enough.
