If only I'd known weather stations were about to come out with sonic wind instruments I'd have waited to buy my new station. Am happy with what I have (Ambient 2902a), but I like new tech!
I like the display as well. The $300 for an "Ambient Weather" model is a little pricey IMO though. I'll start researching forums to see if anyone's had experiences.

I was a beta tester for Ed, the man behind Ambient Weather. I've bought all my stations since then from them.

Interesting. I have a wind meter app installed on my iPhone. It's also a sonic unit, using the microphone to determine wind speed. It seems to work pretty good for a cheap app. Nice to see this technology taken to a dedicated weather station.
