"Lord, we lift up in prayer to you all those in the storm's path this evening, especially those in Lake Charles and near the Texas border. They are nervous, anxious, and frightened tonight, Lord. They do not know what they will find when they return home, and their sleep, if at all, will be fitful. We ask you in your love to put your hand upon their heart, calm their souls, and give them the sense of peace that comes from knowing that you have their back. Help them to somehow know that whatever may happen, whatever may come, that you will guide them and light their way, as you did with us in the aftermath of Katrina. May they be safe as they rest tonight, and guide us in our hearts to act to help them in the aftermath in whatever way you see fit for us to do so; touch our hearts and guide to reach out to our brothers and sisters. Finally, we pray that the storm may somehow be lessened so as to cause as little damage to as many people as possible. We know you have this, and we place these people and these prayers in your hands and in your heart. In your name we pray........Amen."

Prayer for Protection during Hurricane Season
O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and returned to its former quietude.
You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster.
During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time.
O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem, where a stormless eternity awaits us.
[Composed by Most Rev. Maurice Schexnayder (1895-1981),Second Bishop of Lafayette (1956-1973), following Hurricane Audrey in 1957]
Loving and Faithful God we Love you and always look to you for safety and guidance. Many of our brothers and sisters in Christ are facing potential life altering devastation that could result in the loss of life. We humbly ask you Lord to place your cloak of protection over everyone that may be impacted by this hurricane and keep our brothers and sisters in Christ safe. In Jesus’s name we pray. Thank you Lord.
Lord I pray for Your Mercies on all those who will be in the path of this storm. I thank You Lord for all of us who you have already spared from this storm. I pray Lord that if it is in Your Will that You would break this storm down even though our humanly eyes cannot see a way. Bless all those who will be involved and give them the strength and the help that they will need in the coming times. In Jesus name I pray these things.
Lord, We know that you are in control and your plan is perfect even if we can't comprehend the why. I ask that you protect those in the path of this storm and limit damage as much as possible. Please help those impacted to feel your presence and supportive hand as they navigate the next few days. In Jesus name.
