HURRICANE DELTA Discussion Thread

looking at the GOES visible Delta just did that concentric wave thing like that other storm did earlier this year. I forget which one. Like the top collapsed and made waves from the center.

Another recon is going into the storm now!!

So the 00z models should have the balloon data tonight, correct? I’d suspect once those start ingesting that data, the output should be pretty reliable. I’m still expecting this to go either far west or far east of the BR area. Although I don’t really enjoy the idea of another Gustav, deep down we all know we enjoy the thrill of these things to some extent or another. Looking forward to seeing what becomes of Delta but praying for those who are most vulnerable to it

I have been lurking for most of the season. The Storm fatigue is real. I go by what the NHC says. But I pay very close attention to what our Mets on this site have to say. What concerns me living on the Westbank of St.Charles Parish is that the trend today has been a west shift. Trend is our friend right? What about the trend that we have seen several times this year already. Laura was at one point projected to make landfall south of Galveston and made landfall in Cameron Parish. Sally was projected to make landfall here and ended up around Gulf Shores Alabama. Somebody can do the math for me. Not sure how many miles difference that averages between the two storms. But if that trend continues, I'm concerned that instead of landfall near Lafayette or just west of there, we could be looking at a landfall between Grand Isle and Morgan City. These are just my personal concerns. I'd appreciate some of our Mets thoughts on this. God Bless us all.

HWRF/HMON agree that Delta will nearly double in size once in the Gulf.
