After losing my power around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night Mississippi Power restored my power yesterday around 3:00 p.m. and I was glad to get it back.
My only connection with the outside world during my power outage was a 16 year old storm radio from Radio Shack and being able to listen to WWL 870AM radio.
There was practically no stations available broadcasting what was going on here on the Mississippi gulf coast. My cell phone was down to 2%; my laptop about the same but I did have a 16 year old weather radio.
I watched many videos on YouTube last night once I had recharged my laptop's battery and I saw for the first time just how bad it had been here. Was it as bad in Louisiana as it was over here on my Mississippi gulf coast? Who got the worst of the hurricane?

It was very bad in lower Lafourche, St Bernard, Plaquemines and parts of the city... Slidell as well. Some of the damage I've seen is of Cat 3. You don't get complete roof failures on perfectly good homes with Cat 2 winds. Many areas are still without power.
Out here in metairie. Without lights from 6 pm Wednesday until 7 pm today(Monday). Never been so appreciative of a little light bulb ...and cool fronts.

Especially the cool fronts. Now tonight I'm running my central heat for the first time this season and I'm going to have the unit serviced on Tuesday. Normally I like to have it serviced before turning it on but tonight's cool air moved that timeline up. I just checked the #NWS local forecast for Biloxi and currently it's 46F outside and a toasty 74F inside the house. Good night everyone and those who are still without power I hope you get your power back soon.
