Fascinating......rewind to any eruption period......to get some sense of scale the video frame is about 3500 feet across. The height of the volcano is at least 600 feet......so you can imagine how much lava gets pumped out during the brief periodic eruptions.

As if on queue the nature of the eruption has changed this morning.
Looking at the close live free this morning, the periodic overflows of the lava pool seem to have paused or stopped....instead there is a constant outflow from one spot on the cone wall.
Having read the article I posted yesterday, I am wondering if this is just the next step in the shield volcano formation...which is a constant lava pool with most or all the escaping lava being through underground lava tubes.

Volcanologists think this is the berth of a shield volcano....while we don't know if it will stop at any time, shield volcanoes historically have erupted for years, decades, even 100 years. Incredible chance to see this develop over time as I believe it is the first time in recorded history to be able to see a shield volcano begin

Usually much of the lava flow is not visible on the surface as it is going straight into Java tubes, but overnight, after a longer than usual pause, the volcano did some serious throat clearing....Even though this is a quite small volcano, the amount of lava in this video is impressive....watch until at least half way for the fun.
