I love that 70+ year olds are on the internet now. I remember my grandpa had no use for computers, but he was your age 20 years ago.
I was introduced to computers when they first came out for use in the Air Force in the early 1980s. Remember MS DOS, Wordstar, Condor Data Base, Lotus 1-2-3, Harvard Graphics, the dBase series ???

For the record, I learned BASIC, in 1975, at UNO, though was never proficient at it. I did get pretty good at MS-DOS, in the early nineties, when a friend gave me his old Tandy 1000 (an 8088 CPU), with no hard drive, monochrome green monitor! He had upgraded to this wild thing called Windows 3.0!

Since I started the thread, talking about the introduction to Nash, here is one of the biggest things that made him a legend. This is a clip, of the Times Picayune, the morning Camille hit. Of course, the latest update in the article is at 11:00PM Saturday night. Forecasters were confident, Camille would start heading n0rtherly, going in around Ft Walton Beach. As an 11 year old weather nerd, I remember watching Nash that Saturday evening. He pointed out the official forecast, then very grimly stated, "I don't think it is going to make that turn northerly...and if it does, it better start soon!" No telling how many more lives were saved, by him going against the grain, just a bit.

BASIC blows. I've used a little VBA in Excel before and ugh.
Your story about the old Tandy reminds me of my FIL talking about how excited he was to get a hard drive for his computer back in the day. It held a MB and he wasn't sure he'd ever use the storage.
