The tropical wave closest to African coast is now Invest 90L.
A tropical wave is moving offshore the west coast of Africa and into the far eastern tropical Atlantic. Upper-level winds are forecast to be conducive for gradual development, and a tropical depression is likely to form in a few days while the system moves westward to west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph over the far eastern tropical Atlantic.

Environmental conditions are conducive for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form in a day or two while the disturbance moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph over the eastern tropical Atlantic.

Recent satellite-derived surface wind data indicate that the low pressure system located over the far eastern tropical Atlantic several hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands is gradually becoming better defined. The associated showers and thunderstorms are showing signs of organization, and a tropical depression is expected to form during the next day or so while the disturbance moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph over the eastern tropical Atlantic.

Satellite images indicate that showers and thunderstorms continue to become better organized in association with an area of low pressure located several hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands. If the current trends continue, advisories will likely be initiated on a tropical depression or tropical storm later today. This system is expected to move west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph over the eastern Atlantic during the next several days. Additional information on this system, including gale warnings, can be found in High Seas Forecasts issued by Meteo France.
