EDIT: Update Sunday, Jan 22, 7:00 AM From Crissy:
Scott is doing great with recovery. His white blood count is down to 13400 and he starts solids at breakfast (we picked his breakfast and told them to take the milk back). He should be going home tomorrow and hopefully staples will come out NEXT Thursday!
He pushed the hell out of himself yesterday (he had the okay from his nurses) with sitting on a chair instead of in bed, walking the hall, and getting in and out of bed with very little help. And he slept a few hours straight last night. ❤️
I know I haven't responded on any comments, we truly are overwhelmed by the love and support. Scott is extremely emotional about this all. ❤️❤️
EDIT: Crissy sent me a message about 7:00PM, Jan-20, Scott scanned over the messages, and is really touched. Let's keep them coming!
As many of you already know, from either Facebook or the regular weather thread here, Scott had emergency surgery Thursday evening.
I am starting this thread, for anyone to add thoughts, prayers, well wishes, as well as we can post his health updates.
I know it would seem crude, to talk about weather, with his health reports mixed in, I know he would want us to continue the weather talk, but this way, we can pay him due respect!
We love you Scott, we are praying and cheering for you!
1/20 11:00AM UPDATE from Crissy:
We are overwhelmed. Speechless. Both of us have been brought to tears many times. The messages, donations, offers of help, outpouring of love.
Current update.......The surgeon just made rounds. He's putting in an order for the catheter to be removed so he can start walking. Walking is the most important thing he can do right now. They are impressed with his progress. His pain is pretty severe but he's ready to push through it if the doctor says it's okay. No idea when we may go home yet. He's still on antibiotics for the infection that spread in his body and ice chips only. He has a long road to recovery and being forced to rest and rest some more. But he said he's ready to go camping again ❤️😊❤️😊
Oh and the doctors, nurses, social worker, housekeeping have been AMAZING!! I would definitely come back here if ever needed. We got to the ER around 12:30 yesterday and if I remember right he was in surgery by 6:30. I would trust Dr Lewis and the team she had last night with anything. And Kyle (I think was his name) came out to talk to me 3 times during surgery and he stopped by this morning to check on Scott.
From Crissy, his wife, as she posted last night 1/19:
8:20PM update. Closing him up and doing some type of pain block at incisions, about 30 minutes left in surgery.
7:40 update. Tear was pretty big. He's doing well. Has about 45 to 60 mins left in surgery.
Scott just went back for surgery. It's easier to update this way.
Thank you to all who have reached out. He started with pain and fever Sunday. This morning we knew it was more than a virus. Put off the hospital bc he doesn't have insurance. Glad we came though. He is septic with ruptured diverticulitis.
This is a very short summary and I hope I'm remembering it all right......way too many details for me to remember right now.
Surgeon just came out. She said normally they rupture into the abdomen but his ruptured into the colon blood supply. But surgery is done and they are doing the pain blocker now. He'll be in recovery in about 45 minutes. Then hopefully antibiotics get rid of infection and 4-6 mths a surgery to reattach the colon.
