As per NOPD, only essential personnel will report to work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Overpasses and certain streets will be closed prior to the bad weather coming in. The press conference can be found on the NOPD Facebook page.

Terrebonne Parish School District
TPSD Message
TPSD Schools and office buildings will be closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025 due to the predicted frigid temperatures and strong possibility of dangerous wintry-mix weather. We will make a determination about Wednesday, January 22, 2025 no later than Monday, January 20, 2025. Our plans to make up this time will be announced next week.

Just got an alert on my phone from Ascension Parish Gov indicating that are declaring a State of Emergency due to the impending Cold Air and frozen precip.

Due to the anticipated closure of roads and bridges which poses a significant risk to the safety of employees, all non-essential parish offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan 21 2025

Ascension Public Schools

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Due to the anticipated winter weather that may impact safe travel in our area, schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and we will have asynchronous virtual learning on this day. Your child’s teacher will assign work to be completed anytime before students return to school.

Additionally, all afterschool activities scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2025, including the Ascension Parish School Board Meeting, are canceled. The School Board Meeting will be rescheduled to Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

We understand that this change may require some adjustments, but it is necessary to meet state requirements for the specific number of academic minutes in a school year. Earlier this year, we were closed for three days in September due to Hurricane Francine. In order to avoid extending the school year or canceling a scheduled holiday, we need to be flexible with virtual learning during closures like this one.

As a reminder, schools will also be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We will continue to monitor the weather forecast and will communicate any updates regarding the schedule for Wednesday, January 22, 2025, as soon as possible.

St. Bernard Parish Schools closed on Tuesday. (to be clear . . . students were already off this day but teachers are now officially off as well.)

Orleans Parish Schools also closed on Tuesday.

Nicholls will not have classes Tuesday or Wednesday. So, their semester will start a couple of days late.
Just received this re: St Charles Parish-

WEATHER NOTICE: 1/17/2025, 4:00 PM

In coordination with the St. Charles Parish Emergency Operations Center, St. Charles Parish Public Schools will continue to monitor the winter weather forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday (January 21-22, 2025). The school system is proactively implementing freeze precautions to help protect facilities and prepare for potential impacts.

Safety is our first priority when making decisions regarding the opening or closing of schools. At the same time, we strive to strike a balance between prioritizing the well-being of our students and employees and fulfilling our responsibilities to their families and the community.

An update will be communicated by 6 PM on Sunday evening via email, phone, and text, as well as the school system's website and social media channels.
