OK - there is no real accurate way to do this, but it is the best I will be able to do. I compared the average temps for each day from my weather station against those on record for Baton Rouge. I live in Mandeville. The closest NWS station that keeps records is BR. New Orleans would not be a good match because if the lake and Slidell ceased being an official record keeping NWS site a number of years ago (I believe - got my info from the Wunderground site and Slidell uses Lakefront data for averages.).
Now one thing to note - my weather station calculates mean temp per day. The records I found only show high and low, so I can only compare averages, not means....if you know what I mean!
So through Deecember 18th, I show currently 7.3 degrees above average.
Here is the data - I tried to space it but it doesn't work
Dec / Daily Departure / Cummulative Departure
1 / 4 / 4
2 / 18.5 / 11.3
3 / -1.5 / 7
4 / -7 / 3.5
5 / -2.5 / 2.3
6 / -2.5 / 1.5
7 / 10 / 2.7
8 / 18.5 / 4.7
9 / 20.5 / 6.4
10 / 19.5 / 7.8
11 / 18.5 / 8.7
12 / 19 / 9.6
13 / 16 / 10.1
14 / 7.5 / 9.9
15 / 11 / 10.0
16 / 8 / 8.8
17 / -10.5 / 7.7
18 / 0 / 7.3
