I wish I knew how to post images!! We were under a Tornado Warning at 2:30 this morning in WBR. The hook echo passed right over us!! Of course I had to go outside and look. The clouds were insane. I saw rotation and some lowering off to the NW of me. The sound was very eeire too, something I cannot explain. My husband even noticed it.
And apparently, most of my friends/neighbors were completely oblivious to what was happening! I tried calling and sending texts... no answer. "Oh, I put my phone on silent.." Don't do that!!
You have to be in the desktop version and click the little picture icon toward the right of the post screen.
Use Imgur or another image hosting site to load the pic on, then copy and paste the pic link into that little picture icon toward the right of the post screen. It's cumbersome, I know. It's why I rarely post pics here.

Google image uploading and you can upload from your computer/phone without needing to even have an account. It's how I post radar images when need be.

Is there a way to find storm velocity images from a particular storm? I am very curious about the cell that went over us, that was tornado warned. The NWS is still investigating.

Would have to go into the radar data archives and load it into GR3. I'll see if I can find it later.

That would be great. The roaring sound my husband and I heard off in the distance was a very distinct sound. It was toward Erwinville/Port Allen between 2:30-3:00 am (4/23).

I tried downloading the data a couple times, but keep getting an error on download. I'll check again. Here's where radar data is downloaded:
rnj79: Addis, WBR Parish check out this link then click Interactive Map. Use the slider to the upper right of the radar image. From the drop down boxes, you can select New Orleans or Lake Charles. This location is right on the border between both WFO's so it's good to look at both of them. Then from the other drop down, select reflectivity and velocity products. The radar data isn't all that high resolution on this page but it'll give a good idea. Definitely looks to have had some moderate to strong rotation on some of the scans.
