that looks like it would be pretty bad in Baton Rouge with that track of it holds.

Just an observation, but Laura & Sally made landfall 40ish miles east of the projected 3 day forecast.
I will feel better this afternoon after seeing the advisories. I live in Thibodaux.. So a 40 mile easterly shift from Lafayette, makes a big difference in impacts for us here.

Before we go to storm mode I’m going to rant a little on NHC after watching all these storms this year.

I think they exhibit a lot of arrogance at times and it’s potentially devastating to people. The only thing you hear is how they amazingly nail it..... yeah within 24-36 hours. 
Now... I agree, they are amazingly smart and talented and thank God we have them but the arrogance is these narrow cones and changes so far out is what I’m talking about. All we will here today on this board and mediia and public officials is, New Orleans “don’t let your guard down, this is a dangerous storm, we’re going to see impacts, one shift 20-30 miles will make a difference”. heck we might even see school closures. But....they move that cone to where N.O. Is nearly out of it, maybe at 2:00 today they’re completely out of it. They did this to the poor people of the panhandle for Sally and look what happened. Which I guess is the lesson for us that live in N.O. But it’s like they try to be smarty pants and have to show people just how smart and right they are rather than full public safety. We get preached to not “look at the center line” but it seems like that’s all they do.  I mean this thing hasn’t even gotten off the Yucatan, it’s still by some models 4 days away.  It’s just astounding to me the cone would almost take a major metropolis out of it at this time unless you are little too full of yourselves.   O.K. Now let all the mixed messages start.  Happy Wednesday Everyone. 

I think that is why all the local meteorologists are very worried about it. All season long models have shifted back east some. This will probably happen again. Just when and how much.

Good point and important to note. 50-100 miles either way with this storm can make a huge difference to conditions over one's roof.

When I went to Cancun in 2014, I walked the beach from our resort down the few miles to Puerto Morelos where Delta just made landfall. That poor little town and that guy that sold me the fake sterling silver ring are probably not doing very well right now. Nice little area. Sucks.
