Not sure the last time I saw my NWS point forecast call for wind gusts up to 50 mph, outside of tropical systems. Are we on the high plains of Nebraska now?

Honestly, I may do a first after work today. Looking at the forecast gusts for tomorrow, I think I might go gas up tonight (may have to take out a personal loan for that!) in preparation for a springtime severe weather event just in case we lose power. I live in an area that takes forever for power restoration. I’ve only gassed up in hurricane season and before an ice event. I think I can call “BINGO!” now lol!
man....looked again for the evening hours when the line is approaching/passing, and it's a very close set up to last week, where we had southerly winds at the surface, southwesterly winds aloft and a VERY potent southwesterly jet stream at the upper levels. I do think we have a good chance at seeing another strong, EF-2 or greater tornado somewhere locally.

Have we always had these Spring pants-crapping severe forecasts and I have just not been paying it much focus until this year, or are they starting to get more numerous in general?
