[H] HURRICANE FRANCINE - GULF OF MEXICO

Howdy Forum Friends! Long few days ahead...

I've been keeping up with all of your posts on here, as always the best source for local storm information & model analysis along the Gulf Coast.

Hoping people don't underestimate this storm, especially in Acadiana/Lafayette region, where they have been spared by recent storms. Francine likely to bring the most sizeable wind event to the region in quite some time with an intense northern eyewall feature being showcased by most hi-res models.

In addition, low-lying spots from Cameron-Vermilion-Iberia Parishes are exceptionally vulnerable to storm surge. With rainfall amounts 5-8+" as well, increased flash flooding/river flooding risk with inland rivers not being able to drain as quickly from storm surge build up along the coast.

In southeast Louisiana, we're still watching closely...as we will be in the eastern fringes with tornadic risk & localized flood threat where heavy bands become established.

Lots to watch as a storm coming in from an angle presents a unique challenge to landfall location...take preparation time today-tomorrow!

Man some of the latest visible satellite loops really showing that center well established with eye wall building full 360. The dry air infusion appears to be getting washed out from the SE all the way around to the west.

Do we have a plane up yet? Was thinking it was around 4pm.

Hate to break up the west party goers but you aren’t going to like the new GFS. Landfall in Terrebonne.

Scot,  and others…….could this be worse than Delta was for the Lafayette area? I know all storms are different and I don’t want to appear to ask a silly question, but I am trying to mentally prepare. I have lived in Lafayette for quite a few years and remember staying here for Lili, Gustav, and Delta. Will the intensity, etc. compare to either of these?
