A somber Gov. John Bel Edwards and weather experts said Sunday Tropical Storm Sally will turn into a slow-moving, Category 2 hurricane that could arrive with winds of up to 100 miles per hour, triggering power outages and huge amounts of rainfall.
Stationary at hours 27-30! It looks to start turning northwest at that point and toward the LA/MS border.
My in-laws live right outside Slidell in Pearl River, would be horrible for them
I live in Pearl River and I am especially worried. We have a lot of trees around here that could be knocked down quite easily. And they're forecasting about the same amount of rain or more that we had in Isaac and for Issac, the Pearl had one of its Too 5 crests. They were worried about the locks on the river failing and sending a 20ft wall of water through here.

The last run of the HWRF that had Sally this far east was at 12Z Saturday. It could be a result of a much stronger system hence more influence of a northward turn sooner.
HWRF strong and Mississippi landfall. I know we are nowcasting and watching the NHC track but with the continual shifts of the models to the east (multiple runs of the models), the NHC will more than likely continue to move the track east.

Zach would the NHC move the track a lot this close to landfall to the east if all of the reliable models start trending further eastward? It might give those of us in the NOLA area a sense of calm that we dodged another one.
Better safe than sorry. Honestly this could go either way for SE Louisiana. I thought we'd have a clearer picture by this time but I don't think we do. I made my preps today and hope they're for naught. If the situation starts deteriorating over night, I'll be glad I did.
