It's clouding up here and I've heard a few rumbles of thunder. I'm guessing any storm activity this morning will stabilize things in my area lessening the chances for anything strong to severe later on.

At 916 AM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located over Piney Woods, or near Star, moving east at 20 mph.
Piney Woods is actually a boarding school. I taught there for a couple of years, and the campus was hit by a tornado during a school day...I believe in February 2007. Most of the buildings there are older brick construction and very sturdy. In fact, several of the buildings were designed as fallout shelters.
Nevertheless...hoping all is well there this morning.
Randy, do u remember the discussion a few weeks back about that Brandon area and it’s tornado frequency? Just seems to be a bullseye.

I sure do. It's kind of amazing.
There's a controversy here right now. There was a confirmed tornado on the ground Sunday night, and a new water tower built adjacent to the radar tower in Brandon blocked the National Weather Service's radar view for nearly half an hour. It was an EF-1; however, had it been worse, there could have been tremendous loss of life.

80F dew point here and sun has quickly followed the rain. I would not blink this afternoon / evening if I lived Northshore into Mississippi. We’ll see what evolves for the NOLA area. Tornado Warning now for DeRidder LA.
