David Bernard on Fox 8 mentioned some showers and storms that were forming in St. Mary and Terrebonne Parish moving northeast, which went along with what one of the forecast models said. He said that this weather would possibly move in overnight.
Some of us who still have tarps on our roofs and are still catching rainwater in buckets from Ida are worried about more rain causing more issues.

Side note, like Gris, I love to go for a jog when it's breezy tropical weather out. My run today was amazing. The rain had all but stopped and the temperature was down to 73 when I ran at 5 pm.

Woke up to heavy rain here in Bogalusa this morning. My little yard rain gauge topped out at 5" sometime early this morning. Under a flash flood warning now. Are new bands coming in from the gulf?

Sometimes I wonder who I was
before the lightning struck and I was no more.

We usually don't see that until we have t-storms in the winter. When Nick was blowing through here, the power lines swaying in the wind would sometimes arc, making an odd humming/growling noise, and lighting the area up with an awesome purplish-blue light. :shock:

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Hancock County in southern Mississippi...
Southwestern Pearl River County in southern Mississippi...

* Until 1000 AM CDT.

* At 704 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Picayune, Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Diamondhead, Stennis Space

I’ve been evacuated to Dallas since Ida with my house not getting power until this past weekend. I had planned to drive from Dallas to New Orleans yesterday but did not want to be driving through Nicholas so postponed by two days.

We (me and a five year old) are now set to leave Dallas first thing tomorrow and should hit Lafayette around 1pm. Will we still be seeing effects from Nicholas at that point on the drive down from Shreveport? Is stalling another day the safe thing or do you think we will be fine. I really, really want to get back home.

lencast: I am in Jacksonville, and trying to drive back to New Orleans. Does anyone here know if the I-10 is passable in Lake City and Tallahassee. Sept 27, 2024 5:19:03 GMT -6
